Muddy Fork loop on Mt Hood - Sept 7-8

Ann and I did an overnight backpack trip up to the Muddy Fork on the Timberline trail.

The colors at sunset can turn to a golden hue quickly on the west side of Mt Hood

The clouds kept moving in and out around the mountain, but even when cloud cover, there was color.

While eating our breakfast after our river crossings, the sun popped up over the mountain very quickly, I only had 1 minute to grab my camera and take some pictures.

The clouds were again moving in on Mt Hood but it was still peaking from above the clouds.

It again cleared up as we made it back to our car.

 

It is mushroom season, there were signs posted about obtaining a daily mushroom gathering permit from the Forest Service.

Timberline Lodge to Mt Hood Meadows - Labor Day 2013

My wife, daughter and I did a short overnight backpack trip from Timberline lodge, camped on Boyscout ridge and then day hiked to Mt Hood meadows.

While taking my night shots, my daughter and I played with lights on the long exposure pictures.

They had the lights on Mt Hood at the foot of Palmer glacier lit up all night, think it was a snow cat.  I wish they would have turned them off so people could get star pictures without the glare. 

 I used Nite Ize led lights to light up the tent.

They are a 1 led small carabiner light, here is the link for them at REI

They do a great job of lighting up the tent with a glow.

Oregon State fair

I used my variable ND filter today at the Oregon state fair to capture motion on these rides.
I was able to get a 1/2 to a 3 second exposure for these shots using my filter.

South Sister loop Aug 16 - 19

Ann and I did a three night backpack trip around South Sister in the Three Sisters Wilderness area of Oregon.  We were blessed with wonderful weather and spectacular views.
